Festival Information
One of Richardson’s biggest claims to fame is its wonderful festival scene. Special yearly city events include: Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, Cottonwood Art Festival, Huffhines Art Trails, Family Fourth Celebration and the Christmas Parade. No matter what time of year you plan to visit, there’s a chance you could find yourself among thousands of festival goers taking in art, food, music and good times. Also, a variety of events and performances are offered each year by Richardson arts groups, Richardson Civic Center, University of Texas at Dallas and Richland College.

Cottonwood Art Festival, North Texas’ premier fine arts event, takes place the first weekend in May and October. This two-day festival is ranked in the top 20 in the nation for a fine art event. National and international artists transform Cottonwood Park into a unique, outdoor fine art gallery featuring one-of-a-kind works in painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber art, fine glass, woodwork, mixed media, and photography.

Wildflower! Art & Music Festival is an award-winning, multi-day eclectic arts and music festival that is staged every year on the third weekend in May. The festival features three outdoor performance stages, Richardson’s award-winning Singer/Songwriter Contest, the Budding Talent Competition, and the Battle of the Bands showcase. Other fun attractions include Kidz Korner, strolling entertainers, interactive displays and exhibits, the Wildflower! Marketplace, the City of Richardson Petting Zoo, the Art Guitar Auction, and the Taste of Texas Food Garden.

Huffhines Art Trails is a multi-day festival of art, music, and fun. During the fourth weekend in October, the paved trails of Huffhines Park come alive with 200 exhibiting artists and craftsmen. Patrons find a variety of contemporary crafts, fine arts, and traditional crafts in mediums that range from glass, jewelry, painting, pottery to wood work. Huffhines Art Trails features live entertainment, an adventurous scavenger hunt for the kids, pumpkin decorating contest, a café and food vendors with delicious treats.

Family Fourth Celebration, staged in Breckinridge Park, is an old-fashioned family fourth celebration. With a live patriotic concert featuring the Richardson Community Band and a huge fireworks and lights display, it’s the perfect place to enjoy an evening with family and friends while celebrating our nation’s independence. Families are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and or lawn chairs for an evening of enjoyment under the stars.
